Is it possible (and relatively easy) to replace vista with xp on a vista laptop?

My mum just got a new laptop (Advent 1315Nordic) that runs vista but its giving her nothing but trouble and she is used to xp, we have xp home on disc so was hoping we could "degrade" the system to make life easier...
