Went to the Dentist.. got some kind of filling and now it feels like i have a pebble stuck in my tooth!?

i'm not sure if it was a filling.. he said a coating, so i didn't really ask. The tooth is really filled up and wen i put my teeth together it feels like a pebble, and it feels to high.. is this normal?
